In the process of building a RC car system. I have been working on a differential drive system with an electric motor and speed control. Currently building the frame in CAD and preparing to 3D print the parts. The next steps will be to build the electronics and program the control system. The goal is to have a fully functional RC car that can be controlled remotely.

The Idea

I want to build an RC car that can be remotely controlled with either smart commands, like audio or visual queues, or with a smartphone. It should be able to navigate through any terrain and avoid obstacles. I want the car to powered by one electric motor and use a differential drive system to make it easier to control, but this means it will require axle locking to allow it to drive in uneven terrain. I want to build a suspension system for the camera so it won't be affected as much by bumps on the road.

Another system will be a camera mount that will have a gimbal to hold it steady. The camera will be able to stream the video to the control device and make desicions on the surroundings. I hope to run an small model to detect the terrain, but I can figure that out later.

Current Plans

I have started building a ladder frame in CAD and will be 3D printing parts. I will try to use the 3D printer to make most of the parts to make it eaiser to manufacture and upgrade parts.

Final Project Goals

Build the RC car out of a metal frame, add 3D printed enclosures for electronics, build camera mount with self righting gimbal. Add magnetic suspension system.
