About Me

I'm Yifan Hu, an Electrical Engineering student at UCLA who loves tinkering. I enjoy solving complex hardware problems and translating theoretical concepts into functional devices.

I specialize in embedded systems and PCB design, with a strong foundation in analog and digital circuit analysis. I'm drawn to projects where clean engineering meets real-world constraints.

Currently interested in Hall Effect & TMR keyboards, magnetic mice architecture, and Apple's next-generation hardware direction. Always building something.

    Part hall effect part mechanical keyboard designed with a custom PCB and firmware. Features include per-key RGB lighting, hot-swappable switches, and 75% layout.

    Custom 27 MHz digital communication system designed from scratch using MATLAB and RF hardware blocks. Focused on signal integrity, modulation scheme design, and over-the-air data reliability at range.

    Designed and built a series of RC fixed-wing aircraft, focusing on aerodynamic stability, lightweight frame construction, and custom ESC/motor configurations. Iterated through multiple airframe designs and tested flight characteristics at various speeds and load conditions.

    Autonomous quadcopter built from the ground up — carbon-fiber airframe, custom electronics stack, and PX4 flight controller with full PID tuning. Sensor calibration via QGroundControl. Built and tested in the UCLA makerspace.

    High-speed data acquisition system designed to capture and process sensor streams at extreme sample rates. Implemented real-time signal buffering and transmission pipeline using custom embedded firmware on a microcontroller platform.

    Multi-band analog equalizer with active op-amp filter stages for bass, mid, and treble control. Hand-etched custom PCB, potentiometer-driven frequency adjustment, and a 3D-printed enclosure. Built from breadboard prototype to finished product.
